Point E is a quiet residential district in central Dakar, ten minutes from the Plateau. What you will find there, how to get there, and why Ge'eza is a good place to start.
Point E is a residential district in central Dakar, between Fann, Mermoz and avenue Cheikh Anta Diop. Low villas, tree-lined streets, embassies and institutes: people come here to work, to have dinner, to see an exhibition, rarely by chance. It is also where Ge'eza stands, at 656 avenue Birago Diop.
A district of villas, ten minutes from the Plateau
From the Plateau or the airport, Point E is reached by the Corniche Ouest or avenue Cheikh Anta Diop. The district is quiet by day and lively in the early evening when the terraces open. It is easy to walk from one address to the next, which is rare in Dakar.
Eat
Ge'eza serves Ethiopian food made with produce sourced in Dakar: injera, vegan fasting dishes, doro wot, tibs, and from Tuesday to Friday a Senegalese dish of the day at lunch. The Ethiopian breakfast is served from 8am to 11am. The house is open Tuesday to Sunday, 8am to 10pm, and closed on Mondays.

Ge'eza's villa is also a gallery: paintings, sculptures and textiles by artists from East and West Africa hang in the lounge and the rooms, with works available to buy. Exhibitions change through the year, with an opening for each new hang.
Take time for a coffee
The Ethiopian coffee ceremony is booked in advance: the coffee is roasted in front of you, hand-ground and served in three rounds. Allow about 45 minutes. It is a simple way to host visitors passing through Dakar.
