Two Artworks That Belong Together: The Gallery's Numbered Titles

Five pairs of numbered titles at Ge'eza's gallery: 'Lien commun 1 and 2,' 'Marché hebdomadaire' and its sequel, 'Arrêt taxi 1 and 2,' 'Le défi 1 and 2,' 'Le dompteur 1 and 2.' Sizes and prices to ask for together.

The work 'Le défi' by Saadio, shown at Ge'eza's gallery

At Ge'eza's gallery, several titles come as two numbered parts, like two sides of the same subject: "Lien commun 1" and "Lien commun 2" by Ibou Diagne, "Marché hebdomadaire" and "Marché hebdomadaire 2" by the same artist, "Arrêt taxi 1" and "Arrêt taxi 2," "Le défi" and "Le défi 2," "Le dompteur 1" and "Le dompteur 2" by Saadio. All are available, price given on request from each work's page on the gallery.

"Lien commun 1" and "Lien commun 2"

These two oil paintings by Ibou Diagne, dated 2025, share exactly the same size, 100 x 120 cm. Their titles both borrow the name of "Lien commun," the exhibition presented by Ge'eza at the IFAN Musée Théodore Monod in October 2025, where the artist was shown alongside Saadio and Tampidaro. The guide Lien Commun: Works by Ibou Diagne covers these two pieces in detail, and the first piece's page can also be reached directly at Lien commun 1.

"Marché hebdomadaire" and "Marché hebdomadaire 2"

This pair by Ibou Diagne differs from the others in two ways at once: size and technique. "Marché hebdomadaire," an oil on canvas at 100 x 100 cm, dates from 2023. "Marché hebdomadaire 2," an acrylic on canvas at 90 x 70 cm, dates from 2025. Even though the title repeats the same words, the two works share neither the same size nor the same technique: two years and one medium set them apart, a different case from the gallery's other numbered pairs.

"Arrêt taxi 1" and "Arrêt taxi 2"

At Saadio's, "Arrêt taxi 1" and "Arrêt taxi 2," both mixed media on canvas from 2025, share the subject named in the title without sharing the same size: 100 x 100 cm for the first, 150 x 100 cm for the second. This is the second pair in the catalogue where the size changes from one number to the next.

"Le défi" and "Le défi 2"

These two works by Saadio, in mixed media, acrylic and Posca on kraft paper, framed under glass, share the same size, 60 x 50 cm, and the same year, 2025. Their pages are both online, "Le défi 2" alongside "Le défi," at the same size as the rest of the artist's kraft paper works.

"Le dompteur 1" and "Le dompteur 2"

Same size and same medium as the pair above: "Le dompteur 1" and "Le dompteur 2," mixed media on kraft paper framed under glass, 60 x 50 cm, both dated 2025. The two pieces present themselves identically, with only the number in the title setting them apart.

Five pairs, three different cases

Among the five pairs of numbered titles presented here, three share exactly the same size and technique: "Lien commun 1 and 2," "Le défi" and "Le défi 2," "Le dompteur 1" and "Le dompteur 2." One pair shares the technique but not the size: "Arrêt taxi 1" and "Arrêt taxi 2." One final pair differs in both size and technique: "Marché hebdomadaire" and "Marché hebdomadaire 2." Checking each page remains worthwhile before planning to buy a pair: a number in the title alone does not guarantee a matching size.

Why buy two works together

Owning both parts of a title keeps a visible link between the two pieces, whether the buyer hangs them side by side or in two different rooms of the same home. It is also a simple way to build a coherent set without mixing too many artists or very different subjects on one wall.

Asking for both prices together

For a pair of numbered titles, asking for both prices in the same message, naming both exact titles, makes the exchange with the gallery team simpler. The price is given from each work's page on the gallery site, or directly on WhatsApp at +221 78 660 07 07. The team replies with both amounts, the technical details of each piece and the certificate of authenticity signed by the artist that will travel with each work sold.

Hanging a pair

For a pair of matching size, such as "Le défi" and "Le défi 2," hanging them side by side, at equal distance from the wall and from each other, gives the clearest result. For a pair of different sizes, such as "Arrêt taxi 1" and "Arrêt taxi 2," aligning the bottoms of both frames rather than their centres avoids too sharp a visual mismatch.

Seeing these pairs at the gallery

The gallery can be visited without an appointment, Tuesday to Sunday, 8am to 10pm, at 656 avenue Birago Diop, Point E. For any question about one of these five pairs before deciding, write on WhatsApp at +221 78 660 07 07 or email geezacultures@gmail.com.
