Artists Shown at Ge'eza: Saadio, Olio, Tefy KHT and Others
Saadio, Ibou Diagne, Tampidaro, Tefy KHT, Sarah Custer-Lalanne, Olio, Israa Hamad and Yasmeen Abdalah have all been shown at Ge'eza. Who they are, in what setting, and how to see their work in Dakar.

Eight artists have been shown at Ge'eza or in exhibitions the house has presented: Saadio, Ibou Diagne and Tampidaro (Senegal), Tefy KHT and Sarah Custer-Lalanne (Madagascar), Olio (Cape Verde), Israa Hamad and Yasmeen Abdalah (Sudan). Their work can be seen at the gallery, 656 avenue Birago Diop in Point E, Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 10pm. Prices are given on request, and every work sold leaves with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
A gallery that invites several geographies
Ge'eza is an Ethiopian restaurant, a contemporary art gallery, a concept store and an events venue in one. Its founder and director, Maraki Germa Bekele, built it as a hub for dialogue between Ethiopian and Senegalese civilisations, "a bridge between two Africas". The name Ge'eza means "home" in Ge'ez, and the house welcomes artists from East Africa, West Africa and the diaspora.
You can read that openness in the list of names. Three artists come from Senegal, two from Madagascar, one from Cape Verde and two from Sudan. Each group arrived in a specific setting: a group exhibition, a day devoted to Madagascar, and a series of editions called "A Country in the Spotlight".
Saadio, Ibou Diagne and Tampidaro: "Lien commun"
These three Senegalese artists were brought together in "Lien commun", a group exhibition presented by Ge'eza from 16 to 31 October 2025 at the IFAN Théodore Monod Museum, with an opening on 16 October from 5pm to 10pm. The full story of the show is in the article on Lien commun.
Saadio is also the artist behind "Figures (2025)", a mixed-media work on canvas currently shown at the gallery, with its own page on the artwork listing. The large canvases from the Lien commun hang, "Sans titre I" and "Sans titre II" in acrylic on canvas (2025), and "Foule" in oil on canvas (2025), complete what can be seen in Point E. For each canvas, the best way to understand the work is still to stand in front of it, in the light of the gallery lounge.
Tefy KHT and Sarah Custer-Lalanne: Madagascar in Point E
On Sunday 7 June 2026, "Dia Nifanena" devoted a day to Malagasy creations, encounters and flavours. The artists Tefy KHT and Sarah Custer-Lalanne were in the spotlight, alongside coffee-shop painting workshops, a market of Malagasy brands and local designers, live music from Malagasy artists, Ethiopian food and a coffee ceremony. The day is covered in more detail in the article on Dia Nifanena.
Olio: Cape Verde in the gallery
Olio is a visual artist of Cape Verdean origin. His work was shown from 21 to 30 August 2026 in "A Country in the Spotlight: Cape Verde", the first edition of the format. The opening took place on Friday 21 August, followed by a DJ set, and a brunch with live music closed the series on Sunday 30 August. For the background on the Cape Verdean scene, read the article on contemporary Cape Verdean art.
Israa Hamad and Yasmeen Abdalah: the Sudan edition
The second edition of "A Country in the Spotlight" showed works by Israa Hamad and Yasmeen Abdalah, with a last highlight on Saturday 3 October 2026: a brunch with live music by Mildah, alongside a small artisans' market. These two artists do not have an online profile page yet. We would rather say nothing beyond what is established than sum them up in a few approximate lines.
Where to find the artist profiles
The Ge'eza website has profile pages for Olio, Saadio, Ibou Diagne, Tampidaro, Tefy KHT and Sarah Custer-Lalanne. They are gathered on the artists page. Each profile points to the related works and events. It is the right starting point if you are planning a visit, or if you want to compare several universes before thinking about a purchase.
How to look, how to buy
A visit to the gallery is relaxed: you can have lunch, take a coffee, then walk past the works, or the other way round. If a canvas holds your attention, ask the team for the price, which is given on request. Payment is by Wave, Orange Money, bank card or on site. The work can be collected in Point E, or shipped outside Dakar on a quote. For questions about choosing, budgeting and logistics, the guide to buying contemporary art in Dakar walks through the steps.
Staying informed
Upcoming exhibitions are published on the events page, in the house calendar (which you can subscribe to) and in the monthly newsletter. For a specific question about an artist or a work, write on WhatsApp at +221 78 660 07 07 or to geezacultures@gmail.com.
